Chapter: 303
She remained silent, Leading Bennett to inquire further, "What is it?”
Considering she'd already divulged part of her apprehensions, Claudia decided to speak her mind. "I'm worried that I might develop feelings for you."
Having confessed, she composed herself and stared into his dark eyes Bennett had been inching towards her, but at her confession, he remained silent. His thoughts were a mystery, his face impassive.
Eventually, he broke the silence. "What makes you so certain I won't reciprocate your feelings?”
Claudia felt a fresh wave of blush engulf her at his composed query “I'm not sure. I just assumed you wouldn't
Claudia was, after all, a self-aware woman.
Bennett cast a steady gaze at her, his voice a deep rumble.
“However, I believe I wilt."

“Will you?"
“Yes, I will."

“Why wouldn't I have feelings for you, if you can for me?"
Claudia found herself at a loss for words, a sensation akin to stumbling upon an awkward subject.
She clasped her hands, desperate for someone to steer her away from the discomfort.
The room fell into an uneasy silence; Claudia's rapid heartbeat resonated in her ears.
She pressed her palms together, seeking some words to ease her nerves, but found none.
“I'm merely joking,”
Bennett abruptly announced.
Claudia's head shot up in surprise at his words. A faint smile played on Bennett's face, prompting Claudia to exhale in relief. She said, “Mr. Dreskin, given your family’s wealth and influence, I propose we establish a formal signed agreement. As they say, money makes the world go round. So better set the rules before we do this."
“Agreed. I'll arrange for my secretary to procure a lawyer for drafting the agreement Later."
“Good.”
Claudia perceived an increase in the tension in the room.
