Chapter: 35
Everly pursed her Lips and huffed, “Alright then.”

The room was swamped with a heavy silence. Anthony placed a key before Claudia. “This is for you, Cece. Our third-anniversary gift. You adore the sea, don't you? I've got a yacht docked at the harbor."

Everly couldn't help her envious tone. “Anthony, you're so sweet to Cece. I adore the sea too. Why didn't I get a yacht?"

Rachel chimed in, appreciating the gesture. “What a thoughtful gift!"

With a quick glance at Rachel and Everly, Claudia chuckled softly as she glanced at the key on the table. "Anthony and I are no longer together. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to accept this. Everly, since you seem to like it, you should have it. It's not going to be a waste for Anthony to have bought the yacht then.”

This statement visibly shocked the Nixons.

Just then, a waiter wheeled in a cart and began serving the dishes.

The air in the room was thick with tension.

At the dinner, Jace and Claudia seemed aloof towards the Nixon family members.

Anthony's spirits steadily descended, his parents lost their appetite.

Meanwhile, Everly nonchalantly savored her meal.

After thirty minutes, Everly was nudged by Rachel and, though somewhat reluctantly, she set down her fork. The waiter arrived to clear the table and brought in the desserts and fruits.

Henry thought of offering wine, yet Jace declined upfront stating they had important matters to discuss and shouldn't be drinking.

The dinner was over, and it was now time to talk.

Henry sighed deeply. “Jace, we acknowledge our blunder concerning the wedding. We deeply regret the events. The fault was mine-I failed to guide Anthony correctly which Led to the unfortunate incident.

Jace, Cece, we owe you an apology!"

Brief silence followed, broken when Henry uncorked a bottle of wine, filled a glass and drained it in a gulp.

A frown appeared on Jace's face. As Henry moved to refill his glass, Jace attempted to stop him. “Henry, that’s enough!"

Henry brushed his hand away, muttering, “The failure is mine. I didn't guide him right!" before downing another glass.

Jace didn't interfere anymore. Considering Anthony's escape act led to Claudia's severe accident, mere glasses of wine weren't enough for Jace's forgiveness.

When Henry was about to refill for the third time, Claudia intercepted, taking away his glass. "Mr. Nixon, Anthony is an adult. He should bear the consequences of his own actions."

Rachel seconded, “Cece is right!"
