Chapter: 362
This was why Zaria didn't know how to swim. She owed her life to Claudia.
And so, Claudia felt she deserved it.
Moreover, the piano upstairs was technically not hers. When this contract marriage ran its course, she would have to leave the piano upstairs.
The more Claudia thought about this, the more tempted she was to accept this gift.
“Well, I guess I could—"
Claudia's statement was cut off when a strong hand suddenly yanked the receipt from her.
Bennett meticulously folded it and put it back into the small gift box, and then put the smaller box into the bigger one. When he was done, he threw it to Zaria and said, “If you really want to show your appreciation, go get another gift. She doesn't need this."
Turning a blind eye to Bennett, Zaria looked straight at Claudia and asked, "Is that true? Don't you like the gift?"
Now on the hot seat, Claudia alternated her gaze between the two people.
Finally, she pursed her lips and said hesitantly, “It's not that I don't like it. I just think it's wasteful to have two of the same pianos. I can only play one at a time, so the one upstairs will do as it always have.
Zaria, I am glad that I could be of help to you. It's what every upright human being would have done. That said, you don't have to give me such an expensive gift. You had thanked me in public Last night. I think it's enough."
"No, it isn't!"
Zaria kicked firmly. "Since having two of the same pianos is too much of a hassle, I'll get you something else. Tell me, what do you Like?”
What did Claudia Like?
Money! Lots and lots of money!
But could she say that?
Hell no!
As Claudia was racking her brain for something that wouldn't make her seem like an opportunist, Bennett's voice rang out.
“She Likes money."
It took Zaria a few moments to process what she just heard. Afterward, she smiled and took out a check book. She wrote a check for five million and held it out to Claudia.
“Excellent taste you have got, Claudia. Money always makes the best gift. Here you go."
Staring at the outstretched check, Claudia couldn't figure out how things came to this.
When Zaria saw her hesitation, she immediately jumped to the wrong conclusion. "Why aren't you taking it? Is this amount too Little?"
Bennett, who was standing aside, chipped in, "Do you expect my wife to jump at the sight of a mere check of five million?"
