Chapter: 382
In the dimly lit car, the flickering lights from outside danced. Observing Claudia‘s flushed ears, Bennett's Laugh resonated softly. Even though it was brief, Claudia managed to catch it.
She glanced at Bennett, mortified.
“Can you stop making me uncomfortable?"
"What have I done?"
"Stop mocking me."
Claudia attempted to maintain a stern expression as she spoke.
Bennett gradually stifled his laughter, assuring, “Alright, I'll stop the teasing."
Claudia found herself without a response.
An uncomfortable silence filled the vehicle.
Due to the heavy rain, the driver maneuvered cautiously. Normally a twenty-minute ride, today's trip would take nearly half an hour. Looking out the window, Claudia gradually settled down.
Her phone in her purse buzzed noticeably in the quiet setting.
She hastily fetched her device, finding a message from Aurora.
It read, "Cece, your husband is truly a gentleman! Not only did he come to fetch you, but he also helped me! Be sure to express my gratitude to your husband for me
Claudia was baffled.
“What did Bennett do?"
Aurora responded promptly, “He had his secretary give me a ride home! Just minutes after your departure, his secretary showed up! I was mid-dispute with Kristy and the others. The arrival of Bennett's secretary was a real slap in their faces. Kristy and her friend were furious. Ha-ha-ha!"
Having read this, Claudia deduced the situation. She instinctively glanced at the man resting with his eyes closed, still in disbelief, “Do you mean Bennett's secretary took you home?"
Aurora confirmed, “Yes, why the surprise?"
Claudia admitted, "I'm astonished!" Aurora confessed, “Truthfully, I even assumed Jackson was Amya's boyfriend and that Amya had instigated him to confront me or something when he first showed up... Anyways, Bennett's so good to you! Haven't you thought about securing such a decent man?"
Blushing, Claudia replied, "I don't see it being a good idea."
No sooner had she sent the message than the car halted abruptly.
The phone in Claudia's grasp slipped, landing squarely on Bennett's shiny leather boots.
Before she could retrieve it, the man had already scooped it up. Bennett stole a glance at the screen.
His gaze lingered on the chat history.
