Chapter: 42
Chewing on her bottom lip, Delilah dismissed his concern weakly. “The blame Lies with me. If not for me, Cece would've forgiven you. Anthony, your sister is right. I'll no longer be a thorn in your side."

With these words, she stifled her sob with her hands and retreated from the scene, shoulders shaking.

"Delilah!"

Anthony made a move to follow her, only to be deterred by Henry's commanding, "Come back!"

Sensing the fury radiating from his father, Anthony held himself back and retreated to the private room, his face solemn and stern.

Henry was drowning in humiliation. He looked at his son, gritting his teeth, holding back a surge of violence. “I thought you were smart, Anthony. However, you've created a rift between the Marshall and Nixon families for the sake of Delilah. What are you trying to achieve? You're a real disappointment, Anthony!"

Henry's closing remark weighed heavily on Anthony.

He was at a Loss. He had only meant to help Delilah, yet how did things spiral out of control?

Rachel, who was usually his shield, walked past him without a word, face solemn.

Everly remarked, “Anthony, I think you need an eye examination. Delilah is nothing but a despicable woman!"

“What are you saying? Mind your words!"

Anthony snapped back.

Everly recoiled in surprise. "Still defending her, even now? You're out of your mind!"

With a huff, she left the room, convinced her brother had lost his senses.

Anthony found himself alone, his gaze falling on the glass on the carpet. Claudia's words kept reverberating in his head.

A wave of panic washed over him. He spun on his heels and made his way out, driving towards the Marshall family's estate.

On his journey, an unfamiliar number flashed on his screen.

It turned out Delilah was in trouble!

His car came to a sudden stop.

Anthony heard Delilah's frail voice on the line. "Anthony, forget me. Let me meet my end alone."

In spite of himself, he couldn't ignore her plea.

Tomorrow, he'd be on his knees in front of the Marshall mansion.
