Chapter: 448
A warm embrace suddenly enveloped her, filling her senses with a familiar woodsy scent.
“Don't be afraid," Bennett said, bending down to hold her while helping to roll up her sleeve.
The momentary distraction was enough, and Claudia felt a pinch on her arm before hearing the nurse say, "All done."
Bennett's embrace loosened. Claudia Looked up, gratitude in her eyes.
“Thank you."
She couldn't shake the feeling of attraction towards him.
"You're welcome," he responded, his Adam's apple shifting as he looked into her innocent eyes. Standing up, he continued, "The blood test results will be out in thirty minutes. Let‘s wait over there."
Claudia guiltily nodded, following him to the nearby Lounge.
Though the heat within her had not fully vanished, and she was still somewhat slow to react, she dared not make physical contact with him anymore.
She could manage her impulses, but the man beside her took the initiative to touch her this time.
As his large hand touched her forehead, she felt a chill and shivered slightly. "I'm not feverish."
“Do you still feel unwell?"
Claudia bit her lip, unsure of how to respond, vowing never to drink carelessly again.
“If I held you in my arms, would you feel better?" he teased, leaving her at a loss for words.
As she fought her feelings, Bennett tempted her.
Did he do it on purpose?
Could he sense her growing fondness for him?
Her thoughts were interrupted as something heavy landed on her shoulder.
“Lean on me," Bennett instructed, putting his arm around her and guiding her head.
“I'm really not that uncomfortable," Claudia protested, her Lips tight. "Nevertheless, you'll feel better this way," Bennett countered, reaching to smooth her hair.
Feeling a strange itch, Claudia pushed him away, pleading, "Bennett, please, no more temptation!"
Her willpower was weak, and she feared losing control.
Bennett studied her face for a moment, and then questioned, "Are you really so uncomfortable?”
Well, her discomfort was not the real issue.
