Chapter: 469
Several times, she found it unbearable to be around him and would escape with some excuse.
As she battled this ‘sweet worry,’ good news arrived. Bennett would be away on a business trip for a week She felt a wave of relief wash over her.
On the night before Bennett's departure, Claudia abandoned her previous avoidance, joining him on the sofa. He looked at her, his dark eyes shifting.
“You finally seem to be free tonight.”
Blushing, Claudia looked away.
“I'm taking a break. I've practiced so hard these past days. My hands are quite sore."
He gave her a knowing smile. "Is that so? I thought you were avoiding me."
Claudia stammered, "How could that be? Besides, why should I avoid you?"
Bennett only stared at her, saying nothing.
Feeling his gaze, Claudia finally looked up. "Mr. Dreskin, your business trip is tomorrow. Have you packed everything?”
His eyebrows raised, Bennett asked, “Miss Marshall, would you assist me in packing?"
“Why not?" she blurted, instantly regretting her words.
Just five days prior, she had vowed to keep a proper distance. Was helping him pack really appropriate?
Yet, she had given him her word. When Bennett requested, “Miss Marshall, would you mind helping me pack my Luggage then?" Claudia had reluctantly replied, “Okay.”
Bennett then rose and announced, “Let's go. I need to sleep early tonight."
With no other option, Claudia accompanied him upstairs and entered the master bedroom.
It wasn't her first time in Bennett's room, but it was her first visit to his cloakroom.
Upon approaching the door, she detected the familiar woody scent. Bennett lingered, leaning against the wall by the door, and instructed, "I need three suits, two casual outfits, and two sets of pajamas." Claudia turned to him and simply replied, “Okay.”
She strolled over to the see-through closet, her gaze unabashedly fixating on Bennett's entire collection of clothes.
Everything was black and white, from custom suits to ordinary garments. Rows of ties left her feeling a bit overwhelmed, as did the delicate and clearly expensive cufflinks and collar clips.
For the first time, Claudia realized how extensive a man's wardrobe could be.
There were so many options that she nearly became dizzy with choices
The matching of suit and tie required care. Feeling insecure about her taste, she methodically placed each tie atop the chosen suit, making comparisons.
So engrossed was she in the task that she didn't notice the man's entrance into the cloakroom.
