Chapter: 550
Feeling slightly exposed, as if he could read her thoughts, Claudia chose to gaze outside, lost in her thoughts.
Well, this man must be born to be an unbeatable rival of her, right? Bennett drove steadily, and soon Claudia found herself feeling a bit foolish.
Truth be told, she was tired. Aurora had complained that there wasn't a real need to shop at high-end brand stores.
She believed it was merely a tactic by big corporations to make a profit off hard-working folks like them!
She put in so much effort just to make around three hundred thousand annually, yet a simple handbag cost nearly two-thirds of that.
“These people could just rob us, but instead they even give us a bag! How nice!" Claudia still remembered the eye-roll when Aurora said these words.
Despite Aurora's complaints, their shopping spree was joyful. By the time they returned to the apartment, the step counter indicated they had covered nearly twenty kilometers.
Who wouldn't be tired out after that?
The car's air conditioning gave off a refreshing chill. As Claudia gazed out the window, drowsiness overtook her, and she drifted into sleep within minutes.
Up ahead, a red Light beckoned. Bennett eased the car to a halt.
He glanced over, intending to ask her food preferences, only to discover she was fast asleep.
A tender smile formed on his face. Retrieving a thin blanket from the backseat, he draped it over her.
Claudia stirred awake to find herself nestled in Bennett's embrace. More accurately, he was carrying her up the stairs.
As she grasped this realization, the man who held her also seemed to notice that she had awakened.
Their eyes locked, and instinctively, Claudia shut hers.
She wanted to believe it was all a dream.
Bennett, amused by her antics, quirked an eyebrow. Choosing not to call her out, he proceeded to lay her on the bed.
Upon hearing the sound of the man rising, Claudia let out a relieved breath. She opened her eyes and felt the urge to go to the bathroom.
Suddenly, the light was turned on.
Sitting at the bedside, she observed Bennett switching on the light, and found herself at a loss for words.
Which one was more reliable, lying back or pretending to be sleepwalking?
Such thoughts consumed her! She was really embarrassed, because she was faced with such a huge dilemma.
"Did I wake you up?" Upon hearing his contrite question, Claudia's cheeks flushed. "No, I just need to go to the bathroom!"
Her need to urinate was urgent, and she simply couldn't hold it any longer.
