Chapter: 651
“Miss Bryant." Kayla nodded in response and put her lipstick into her bag.
Claudia went into a cubicle and took a leak. When she came out, Kayla was still there, standing in front of the wash basin and seemingly waiting for her.
“Damn it!" Claudia cursed under the breath.
Kayla was definitely going to ruin her time with her rubbish speech again.
With these musings swirling in her mind, Claudia subtly puckered her lips and gracefully approached the hand sanitizer dispenser, her fingers poised to cleanse her hands.
At that moment, the bathroom accommodated only the two of them, casting an intimate hush upon the space.
Standing alongside her, Kayla beckoned with a dignified tone, "Miss Marshall."
Claudia responded with a puzzled, "Hmm?"
Having purged the hand sanitizer from her delicate hands, Claudia reached for a dainty tissue to dab her fingertips. As she proceeded, her gaze gracefully drifted toward Kayla, and she inquired, "Miss Bryant, what prompts this summons?"
Kayla's eyes held a faint glimmer as she met Claudia’s gaze and she gently revealed, “Nothing of great consequence, Miss Marshall. I simply wished to inquire if you were aware of your husband's first love.”
A fleeting pause enveloped Claudia, but her composure swiftly returned, her words flowing effortlessly, "First love? Does not everyone harbor such a memory? Miss Bryant, did you not experience the same?"
Kayla's gaze narrowed subtly, her words carrying a subtle edge. "You speak the truth, Miss Marshall."
Pausing momentarily, she added, “I find it rather astonishing that Townsend has chosen you as his bride.”
With a nonchalant flick, Claudia disposed of the tissue into a nearby receptacle. Her retort was light and airy.
“Equally surprising is your keen interest in my husband, Miss Bryant."
A wry smirk danced upon her lips as she muttered softly to herself, "Miss Bryant, do you aspire to be a home-wrecker?"
Kayla's countenance froze momentarily but she swiftly composed herself.
“Your thoughts are awry, Miss Marshall. I merely believed our camaraderie warranted a few extra words. If it displeases you, I won't bring it up again. Wishing you a delightful dinner."
“Thank you."
Claudia secretly rolled her eyes at how annoying Kayla was.
She harbored no inclination to accompany Kayla further; she yearned for the moment Kayla would depart.
Yet, to her surprise, after just a couple of strides, Kayla came to an abrupt halt and remarked, “Incidentally, Miss Marshall, you are markedly distinct from Townsend's first Love.”
Claudia chose silence as her response and Kayla demonstrated no eagerness for an answer. Her smile remained affable as she continued, “Miss Marshall, you exude an aura of gentleness and sweetness, whereas Townsend's former flame was a truly fierce woman. Interestingly, she possessed remarkable skills at piloting motorboats."
Kayla concluded with a gracious apology, "Apologies, I have a tendency to overshare." Having uttered those words, Kayla departed.
