Chapter: 744
After drinking just two glasses of wine, he was no longer able to maintain his composure.
Although she also appeared flushed, Claudia was not drunk yet. When Jace started talking about Thomasina, she knew her father was already inebriated.
Claudia immediately summoned the butler. "Elmo, my father is drunk:
Although Jace was in a good mood, he felt a pang of sadness when he remembered his late wife.
Thankfully, he did not drink himself into unconsciousness. Before Elmo accompanied him to his bedroom on the second floor to rest, he did not forget to tell Bennett and Claudia to be careful on their way home.
“Yes, yes, we already know that, Dad. Go upstairs already,"
Claudia answered, feeling embarrassed. It seemed that her tendency to nag when inebriated was something she inherited from her father too.
Jace went upstairs with Elmo's assistance. Soon, Claudia and Bennett were the only ones left in the dining room.
Claudia's flush was more pronounced in the Light.
Bennett scanned her face and smiled.
“Are you drunk?"
"No."
She only had half a glass of wine. She would not get drunk from that.
“Shall we go home now, then?"
Claudia nodded and grabbed his hand.
The gesture immediately melted Bennett's heart. He squeezed her hand as they made their way out of the villa.
He hired a designated driver to take them home. He could not drive because he had drunk some wine.
The couple approached the car and waited beside it for the driver to arrive.
The nighttime breeze was soothing. Claudia admired the way Bennett's handsome features were illuminated by the streetlight. She wondered if there were people who were jealous of his long and thick Lashes.
With a sigh, she said, “Bennett, your eyelashes are so long.”
After saying that, her head dipped, and her lips pursed into a smile. She reached out and ran a hand over his chest.
“My father is very happy today."
When she raised her head again, the glow of the street Light reflected off of her stunning eyes. "Thank you, Bennett."
She knew why Jace was in a good mood. It was because he found out how good Bennett was to his daughter.
