Chapter: 778
As if on cue, Claudia let out a yawn.
“You can end the call now."
She stared at the phone for a while before finally ending the call, albeit reluctantly. Yawning again, she went to the bedroom and fetched her pajamas from the closet.
She was about to enter the bathroom when her phone rang.
Claudia turned around with her pajamas in her arms and grabbed her phone. When she saw Aurora's name on the screen, she realized that she had not informed her friend of her safe return
She hurriedly answered the phone and exclaimed, “I'm home, Aurora!"
Aurora was silent for a while, surprised by Claudia's loud voice. Then, she let out a sigh.
“Thank goodness you answered the phone. If you didn't, I would've called the police."
Claudia replied in a sheepish tone, "I forgot to call you. I was ona video call with Bennett earlier."
“Alright, alright! Don't say anything more. I‘m not interested in hearing about how lovey-dovey you two are. It's Late, and I just called to make sure you arrived home safe and sound."
“Thank you, Aurora."
“Sure. Good night!"
Once the call had ended, Aurora stared at her phone for a minute, feeling Like a complete fool.
Then, she shrugged. As long as her best friend was happy, she could afford to act like an idiot once in a while.
After all, Claudia was like a sister to her already.
It was already eleven o'clock in the evening when Claudia came out of the bathroom. She grabbed her phone and wished Bennett a good night. She did not see his response, though, because she fell asleep the moment her body hit the bed.
She had a less restful night's sleep than usual, probably because Bennett was not by her side.
Claudia got to bed very late Last night, so when her phone rang in the morning, she did not want to open her eyes.
She drowsily reached for her phone and turned the alarm off. Then, she went back to sleep.
Claudia awoke once more to the sound of someone talking outside the bedroom.
She was still sleepy, so her mind was still foggy. She thought the owner of the voice was their housekeeper. Rubbing her eyes, she asked, “Marcia, is it time for Lunch?"
Her voice was a little raspy because she had just woken up.
The person did not respond. Claudia frowned and sat up on the bed.
Was she just hearing things?
