Chapter: 781
Whatever the case might be, just the fact that Claudia and Bennett were in each other's presence right now made her feel jealous again.
When was it her turn to have a blooming love life?
Claudia came out of the bathroom once she was done washing up and saw Bennett holding her phone.
Her brows wrinkled in confusion. "Is something the matter?"
“Miss Haywood called you just now. I accidentally answered it.” Claudia hummed in acknowledgment. "I see. I'll call her back later."
She took the phone when Bennett handed it to her and sat down by the dresser. She took the lid off the toner bottle, poured some onto her palm, and then, with eyes closed, spread it over her face.
When she opened her eyes again, she saw in the mirror that Bennett was now standing behind her.
She quickly applied the eye and face cream to her skin before announcing, "I'm done."
“I had Marcia prepare some food for you."
Claudia peered shyly at him and muttered, "I didn't sleep well Last night."
“What a coincidence! I didn't sleep well either.”
Slightly bewildered, Claudia asked, “Why?"
Bennett gave her an amused glance before inquiring, “What do you think, Mrs. Dreskin?"
Claudia immediately regretted asking such a ridiculous question. Bennett said that he did not get enough rest last night and returned home early from his business trip.
She really did not need to ask why, because the answer was already obvious.
It was because he was worried about what happened last night. She really should not have told him that someone forced her to stop her car.
Claudia, her Lips pursed in nervousness, turned away from him. Feigning ignorance, she asked, "It's because the bed in the hotel isn't comfortable to sleep on, right?"
Bennett stared at her intently. Then, after a second or two, he replied, "That's right. It's not as good as the bed at home."
After saying that, he cast a meaningful glance at the king-sized bed before him.
Somehow, Claudia immediately understood what he was trying to convey, and her ears instantly turned red. She hurriedly racked her brain for an excuse to leave and came up with a lame one.
“I... I'm hungry! I'm going downstairs. Marcia prepared something for me, right?"
With that, she got to her feet, walked right past Bennett, and headed for the door.
Bennett swiveled around. The woman had turned her back on him, but he could still see how red her ears were. Rather than the usual coldness, warmth enveloped him thanks to the sunlight seeping through the glass window.
Jackson would definitely not recognize Bennett if he saw him right now.
