Chapter: 784
With her heart beating fast, under the gaze of his piercing eyes, Claudia gradually surrendered and said, "Okay."
She sipped the water nervously, her eyes falling onto the glass. Gathering her thoughts, she began, “After the movie with Aurora, we parted ways at the cinema's entrance... This man flagged me down with a traffic cone. I was worried about a potential collision, so I slowed down and stopped.
As he approached, he informed me his friend was suffering from severe stomach pains, potentially gastric bleeding, and urgently needed to get to the nearest hospital. To convince me of his sincerity, he handed over his ID card."
Speaking of this, Claudia paused and took a look at Bennett's face, adding, "I examined the ID meticulously to ensure he was indeed the person in the photo. I even had him recite the number on the card to confirm it matched. Afterward, I took his friend to the hospital. He ran after us and arrived shortly, and then I returned home."
Bennett frowned as he inquired, “Can you recall the name of the person who stopped you?"
"Gustavo Green," she replied honestly. Did I do something wrong?" Claudia asked worriedly.
Could it have been a trap devised by his competitor?
This worrisome thought suddenly circled her mind.
Bennett understood Claudia's worries perfectly. He flashed a faint smile and inquired, "What could you possibly have done wrong, Mrs. Dreskin?"
His tone conveyed that even if she were to screw things up, it would hold no sway over him.
Claudia was immensely touched.
Still feeling embarrassed, she responded, “I was just worried. Isn't the business world known for its fierce competition?"
Bennett raised an eyebrow and grinned.
“Perhaps the competition is indeed fierce for others, but I don't mind it," he said confidently. Claudia was Left momentarily speechless.
She realized she might have come across as too naive.
Who would dare provoke Bennett anyway?
Bennett's expression turned serious as he looked at her and said, "I contacted Jackson to investigate this Gustavo guy."
He didn't believe anyone would dare harm his wife.
However, there might be someone unaware that Claudia was his wife. After sending the message to Jackson, Bennett stood up and gazed outside. "I need to return to the office this afternoon, Mrs. Dreskin. Would you like to join me for a nap?"
Claudia blushed at the proposition.
“I just woke up.”
Although she could still catch some more sleep, she didn't want to appear lazy.
Bennett glanced at her. "Didn't you say you had trouble sleeping Last night?" he inquired, his lips curving into a half-smile.
Why did he suddenly bring that up again?
