Chapter: 809
"Do you believe it, Mrs. Dreskin?"
Caught off guard by his question, Claudia paused, and then finally responded, “I prefer to hear it from you."
If he denied it, she'd trust that. But if he confirmed it, then that was that.
Bennett rarely displayed unease. His piercing gaze fixed on the closed door, and his lips formed a slow, seductive smile.
“There's only you, Mrs. Dreskin," he murmured in a deep, husky voice that sent shivers down Claudia's spine. Listening to his suggestive words made her cheeks flush with desire.
Although he didn't state it explicitly, anyone with common sense could discern his implication
While Bennett's words hung in the air, Claudia's lips curled into a subtle smile. The warmth of the smile spread across her face, illuminating her features like the sun dancing on the water's surface. "Oh."
She maintained her composure in her response, but her happiness was undeniable.
Claudia nearly giggled, so she quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
“Have you eaten?"
Claudia was so overwhelmed with joy, she had completely forgotten to eat!
Actually, Claudia hadn't had anything to eat since she had woken up. Feeling a bit embarrassed, Claudia responded, “Not yet."
“Are you planning to eat soon?"
Claudia blushed and replied in a low voice, “Yes.”
She hadn't eaten anything until now. Didn't that indicate she woke up late?
Bennett was an early riser. He got up at 7 a.m. and headed off to work However, Claudia, on the other hand, slept in and didn't get up until around 10 a.m.
The more she compared, the more it hurt, so Claudia offered to hang up so he could go back to work.
Bennett responded with a soft hum, and only then did she end the call. As soon as Claudia hung up the phone, her stomach let out a sudden growl.
The soft, rumbling sound took Marcia by surprise when she entered to invite her to Lunch.
However, Marcia swiftly regained her composure and didn't give any indication that she had heard. She smiled politely and said, "Mrs. Dreskin, lunch is ready. Would you Like to eat now?"
Claudia's cheeks flushed, uncertain if Marcia had noticed her stomach, and she nodded.
“I'll come down now.”
She had barely finished her sentence when her stomach growled once more.
Marcia glanced knowingly at Claudia's stomach and smiled. "You must be hungry. I'll serve the food now," she said, leaving.
