Chapter: 82
Upon reviewing her CT scan results, the doctor was pleased with her recovery. The boards could now be removed, although complete recovery would still require at least six more weeks.
For the upcoming weeks, Claudia wouldn't need the wheelchair, but she would have to rely on a crutch for movement.
Stepping out of the consultation room, Claudia took out her phone, about to dial Jace's number. As soon as she pressed the dial button, Anthony appeared.
“Cece...
Claudia's expression turned grim. She averted her gaze, deciding to ignore him.
Jace picked up the call quickly. Last night, Claudia hadn't returned, and Jace was filled with a whirl of emotions.
On receiving Claudia's call, Jace was curious about the previous night's events but held himself back, asking instead, "Cece, what's the matter?”
“Dad! I've finished with my check-up in the hospital. Could you have Carson come and get me?"
Jace, upon hearing this, felt a twinge of annoyance. "Didn't Bennett accompany you to the hospital?"
“Yes, he accompanied me here, but he had a meeting scheduled this morning. With the traffic being so bad, I suggested he head back to work after getting the CT queue number for me."
Having said this, Claudia cautiously asked, "Dad, could you get Carson to fetch me?"
“Sure, sure! I'LL have Carson pick you up right away!"
"Then, I won't hold you up any longer. I'LL be waiting for Carson here!"
"Alright!"
Once Claudia hung up the call, her smile vanished abruptly. “Excuse me, please."
She didn't even spare a glance at Anthony while speaking.
Stunned, Anthony remained rooted to the spot. Claudia raised her head and stared at him icily. "Anthony, do you reckon it wasn't humiliating enough a month ago, and now you aim to demean me further in this crowd?"
Claudia's words felt like a dagger to Anthony's heart. His expression hardened. He stepped aside, making way for her.
Despite stepping aside, Anthony continued trailing her.
When Claudia realized he had followed her into the elevator, the veins on the hand clutching her phone stood out prominently.
He was utterly shameless!
