Chapter: 9
Since the day she came to and made the bold request, Claudia hadn't seen Bennett.

As time passed, she realized her words from that day were absurd.

Upon seeing Bennett again, Claudia felt a pang of embarrassment and guilt.

Bennett, the one responsible for the accident, didn't surprise Jace when he appeared.

Aurora didn't read too much into it either. She saw Bennett as a decent and accountable man to pick Claudia up. After all, Claudia indeed held partial responsibility for the accident.

Jace went to finalize Claudia's hospital discharge after saying hello to Bennett.

Bennett was notably absent.

"He made a hasty exit, huh?" Aurora ventured, a puzzled look on her face.

Claudia seemed to awaken from her reverie. "Yeah. Some crisis at his office."

"Oh."

Jace was still dealing with discharge procedure. Aurora found a spot on the chair behind Claudia, leaning forward to rest her head on Claudia's shoulder. "So, tell me. What sort of compensation were you thinking of?"

Claudia shifted, Looking at Aurora out of the corner of her eye before sighing deeply. “I... I wasn't really thinking that day and just blurted out "

“Blurted out what?"
