Chapter: 966
“Let's get lunch," Bennett said with a smile, "Sure."

Claudia's stomach let out a quiet growl. She couldn't tell if Bennett had heard it or not.

Claudia glanced at him and blushed. Then she walked off with him for lunch.

No sooner had the thought crossed her mind than Claudia heard Bennett ask, “What are you in the mood for, lunch-wise?"

Turning to him, she replied, “Something light, maybe with soup?" After a moment's thought, she inquired, "How about chicken soup? “Your choice."

Though Bennett was particular about food, he often deferred to Claudia's tastes,

A soft smile playing on her lips, Claudia noticed her hand encased in Bennett's and tightened her grip almost without thinking.

It was only when they exited the airport that it dawned on her: she had forgotten to text her father, Jace, confirming her safe landing.

“I need to message my dad," she said. Releasing her hand, Bennett slid his arm around her waist.

She felt a warmth spread where his hand touched her, its heat penetrating the fabric of her thin, cool clothing.

Nibbling her lower lip, Claudia tapped on Jace's profile picture and shot him a quick message via Line.

As she focused on her phone, Bennett led the way.

The car was parked in the P1 lot, and Claudia spotted the recognizable Bentley as they drew near.

After opening the passenger-side door for her, Bennett loaded the suitcase into the trunk.

The car's interior was fragrant, bearing the familiar woody scent that was uniquely Bennett's.

She had intended to sleep during the flight, but that plan was derailed when she found herself seated next to Mathews.

She'd spent the journey awake, if not exactly alert. Now, ensconced in the car's familiar olfactory embrace, she began to unwind.

Barely had she clicked her seatbelt into place than she yawned, her previous sleeplessness catching up with her at last.

As her mouth opened in another yawn, Claudia caught Bennett's eye and quickly covered her mouth, blushing.

Bennett's dark eyes met hers with a warm, understanding smile.

“Feeling sleepy?"

Embarrassed, Claudia nodded and started to explain, "Last night I-" before a second yawn interrupted her.

Her eyes widened as they watered, giving her the appearance of a drowsy kitten, fragile and endearing.

Covering her mouth once more, she took a moment to ensure she wouldn't yawn again.
