Chapter: 989
Bennett read Breck's message while lounging on the sofa. Smirking, he typed a response.
“It was a present from my wife."
Breck read Bennett's message as soon as he got home. He sighed and replied, “I got it already. I know you have a wife."
Bennett did not bother replying again. He lifted his left arm and studied the watch on his wrist. Slowly, the corners of his Lips quirked upward.
As it turned out, Claudia had a good eye.
When Claudia emerged from the bathroom, she felt much more sober.
She sat in front of the dresser and began her usual skincare routine.
Bennett gave her a cursory glance before heading to the bathroom.
When he was done showering, Claudia was already waiting for him on the bed.
Something in him whirled at the sight of her intense gaze. He swallowed and dropped his gaze.
"Aren't you sleepy?"
Claudia shook her head. For some reason, she felt awake and a touch giddy tonight.
None of her tiredness had set in.
With a chuckle, Bennett climbed into bed and asked, "Do you want to sleep now?"
It was an ordinary question. But it made Claudia recall the scene in the novel she had read the day before. The hero said the exact same thing before he kissed the heroine and did intimate things with her.
Claudia took in Bennett's freshly showered face while the words
“pretty and handsome" kept running through her head.
She took a deep breath and attempted to avert her gaze but failed.
Bennett did not seem to mind her lack of response. He just stared at her, smiling.
As if she were drunk again, Claudia suddenly found herself acting more boldly.
She bit her lower lip before asking in an expectant tone, "Can I kiss you?"
Despite the obvious shyness in her lovely eyes, her words were straightforward.
At that very moment, Bennett lost all ability to restrain himself. He reached out and lifted her into his arms. He replied in a hoarse voice, “I don't see any reason why you can't."
Claudia's breathing became labored at the feeling of the man's hand on her waist. The heat from his touch was penetrating through the fabric of her pajama top.
