Chapter: 991
However, as Claudia reached out, she felt she shouldn't touch them and pulled her hand back.
Fearing his own lack of self-control, Bennett gently shifted her away, suggesting, “Darling, time for bed."
With that, he tucked her in, drawing the covers close.
“But I wish to fall asleep wrapped in your embrace," Claudia said, pulling at the quilt and pouting.
Taking a moment, Bennett, covering his eyes with a hand and grinning, responded, “I'm going to freshen up with a shower. I'll be right back to be with you."
“Sounds good."
As Bennett rose from the bed and neared the bathroom, he heard
Claudia's voice behind him.
"Planning on a cold shower?"
He suppressed a smile, replying, "No."
"You shouldn't take cold showers. They're not always good for you."
Feeling her mouth dry up, Claudia sat up to drink some water.
It cooled her down and made her think clearer.
Recalling her earlier words, her face turned red. She quickly lay down, pulling the quilt over her.
After his warm shower, Bennett stepped out.
He glanced at Claudia on the bed. She was resting on her side beneath the light quilt, not stirring, appearing to have drifted to sleep.
With a hint of surprise, he dimmed the room and carefully settled beside her.
Almost immediately, Claudia shifted towards him, questioning, "Have you taken a shower?"
Embracing her, Bennett responded, grinning, "I did."
"You smell good."
Claudia snuggled closer, tilting her face upwards, her gaze meeting his in the low Light.
In the darkness, his eyes were deep. And the affection in his smile made her want to fall into it with all her heart.
A warm sensation spread across Claudia's heart. She took a deep breath, avoiding his gaze and said, “Let's sleep, Bennett."
In the darkness, Bennett chuckled.
