"Nope, I'll call you sister-in-law," Annis declared.

This left Camila momentarily speechless.

Annis explained, "My mom raised me. Even if Isaac and I don't share a bloodline, we do share a mother. That makes me somewhat his sister, right?"

This logic amused Camila.

“You have a good personality," she complimented as they neared home.

“I have kids waiting at home. Hope you're okay with that."

"Of course, I am," Annis reassured with a smile.

"I absolutely adore children."

As they pulled into the driveway, Annis volunteered to help Camila with her bags.

Once inside, Glenda helped unload their items, while Camila fetched a glass of water for Annis.

“Please, make yourself comfortable."

Annis surveyed the room, commenting, “You've done a marvelous job with the decor."

Camila put the water glass in front of her.

“Mom.”

Joe ran out.

“Where's the cake?"

“Here it is," Glenda responded.

Upon spotting the cake, the child's focus instantly shifted from his mom, and he ran over to Glenda and said, “Glenda, I want some cake."

His voice was soft.

“Sure, I'll get you a slice." The cake was not very large. Glenda sliced a small piece for him.
