Chapter: 1711
Camila's initial sense of reassurance faded, replaced by a sinking feeling.

The whispers about her getting her job thanks to Isaac would now seem true.

Taking a deep breath, she asked, “Why are you here?"

Isaac didn't answer her. Instead, he shot a piercing look at Hilaria.

Although the director was annoyed with Hilaria, he wasn't keen on firing her.

The research center's team was skilled.

He was well aware that Isaac wasn't as gentle as Camila.

The director worried that Isaac might actually dismiss Hilaria.

He forced a smile. "It's all a misunderstanding..."

"A misunderstanding?" Isaac echoed, a hint of mockery in his voice as he faced Hilaria. "Is that so?"

Intimidated by his presence, Hilaria instinctively stepped back, seeking refuge behind the director.

She tried to sound composed as she responded, "She stepped on my foot, so we had words.”

The director glanced at Camila, silently pleading for her to mediate.

Causing a scene wouldn't be wise.

After all, Camila would have to work here in the future. If Isaac retaliated against Hilaria on Camila's behalf, it could create a rift.

People could not openly object, but they wouldn't genuinely respect her.

This would make Camila's job even more challenging.

"Let's go for a walk." Understanding the director's thoughts, Camila grabbed Isaac's arm and steered him away.

Isaac glanced down, his brow creasing. “You don't want my help?"

"Yes," Camila confirmed, nodding earnestly.
