Chapter: 1883
Just as she was drifting off, the door creaked open.
She snapped awake, blinking.
Isaac entered and asked, "Have you been waiting long?"
Shaking her head, Camila said, "No."
“Let's leave," he said.
Getting up, Isaac wrapped her in a hug, “Was it boring for you?"
“A bit," she admitted.
Chuckling, Isaac said, “Next time, I'll skip it if I can."
“Don't fuss over me," she insisted, not wanting to be a bother.
In the car, she finally relaxed, pulling a blanket over herself. "I'm going to have a quick nap."
From noon till evening, with only juice to sustain her, she was beat, sleepy, and starving.
Isaac agreed, "Yes, you should."
Camila looked at him with puppy eyes. "Can I ditch the shoes?"
"Huh?"
Isaac glanced down.
Lifting her feet, she explained, "These heels are killers. They've given me blisters."
Isaac frowned. "Yeah, take them off."
He leaned over, taking off her shoes.
Rubbing her calves, he asked, "Why do you suffer in silence if the shoes aren't right?"
Camila shook her head. “It's not the shoes' fault, it's on me."
