Chapter: 1915
Who?
It appeared that nobody she knew was planning to tie the knot.
Annis and Alick?
Could they have reconciled so quickly?
As she puzzled over it, another message arrived.
“I've been contemplating for a while. I've decided to confide in you. You're Likely the only person I care about and am willing to contact."
Camila had a hunch about the sender's identity.
She promptly inquired, “Is it Laura?"
"Yes." A reply was quickly sent over.
“Where are you? Who are you planning to marry?" Camila pressed further.
Laura stared at Camila's message but didn't reply.
She had no desire to see Camila or have her attend the wedding.
All she yearned for was a simple, uncomplicated life.
Marrying Morrison seemed like the right choice, perhaps because she found solace in this unfamiliar city.
A few days prior, during a team dinner, the scent of mutton made her nauseous, prompting her to retch. An experienced medical examiner blurted out, “Are you pregnant?"
Instantly, all eyes turned to her.
When she joined the team, she disclosed her single status and lack of a boyfriend.
Now, someone suggested she was pregnant, leaving her momentarily stunned.
She felt embarrassed by the attention.
Morrison spoke up. “Why are you all staring at her? Larkin speaks without thinking. Do you really take his words seriously? Not everyone can stand the smell of mutton."
