Annis clasped his hand, her eyes on the tooth mark it bore.

“I'm sorry.”

"It doesn't matter." Alick gently wiped away her tears. “I have to leave tomorrow. I don't have much time left. Let's spend today together."

"Okay," Annis confirmed with a nod.

“Hungry yet? You missed lunch." Let's go out for dinner," she suggested.

The food on the table had gone cold.

Alick agreed, "Let's have dinner, then maybe catch a movie."

"Sounds good."

They moved to the dining room to eat.

Annis had already eaten, so she just watched Alick.

He sliced a piece of steak and held it up to her lips.

“I've already had lunch," Annis said, a shy smile playing on her lips.

Alick said nothing but kept his hand steady.

After a moment's hesitation, Annis lowered her head to bite into the steak, but Alick pulled his hand back just in time, leaving her with nothing.

She looked up, surprised.

Alick was grinning at her playfully.

Her cheeks turned a deep red.

"Alick, are you messing with me?"

Alick flashed a grin. "I was just pulling your leg, you know.”

Annis rose and said unhappily, "Have a blast!"
