Chapter: 1955
Being charged with medical malpractice was any doctor's greatest fear.
If the director died during the surgery, his relatives would definitely sue the hospital.
But it was Camila who insisted on the surgery, so she must bear the consequences.
The stakes were high, but she couldn't back down now.
"Give it to me," Camila said, promptly signing the paper after Lilian handed it over.
Then, returning the signed waiver to Lilian and turning to Ernesto with a serious expression, Camila said, “I want you to be my assistant."
Ernesto didn't object. "Okay."
"Since you're familiar with the surgical team, I'll need your help for the surgery to go smoothly," Camila added.
"Leave it to me," Ernesto said with a nod.
He knew saving the patient's life was the priority, so he was willing to cooperate.
Taking a deep breath, Camila opened the storage box where the artificial heart was placed.
"Are you confident about this surgery?" Ernesto probed.
"No," Camila admitted.
Ernesto's expression grew stern as he asked, "But you're still doing it?"
"Do we have other options?" Camila shot back calmly.
Ernesto pressed his lips together. There was no other option. If they didn't bite the bullet, the patient could die.
The surgery was their last hope.
“Okay, just do it and leave the rest to me," Ernesto said, this time with more resolve.
Camila nodded, determined.
Everything was set on the operating table.
