Chapter: 1961
"Then have a seat." Morrison took off the balloon in her hand and said, "I'll clean up the room. You go ahead and eat. I'm not good at cooking because I lived alone before, but I'm willing to give it a try and improve."
Laura glanced at him and said, "I can cook."
"You're pregnant. I can't let you cook. I'll handle it once I've learned." As he spoke, Morrison placed some steamed buns in front of Laura, saying, "These are amazing. They're from a ten-year-old shop known for its delicious buns."
Taking one, Laura tasted it.
It had oiliness without being too greasy, and there was a powerful scent of scallion.
“It's really good," she said, smiling.
“Have some more if you like it. Once you're done eating, get changed and head to work. I'm going to rest now that I'm back. I'll clean up the room later."
Laura observed him as he cleaned.
She quietly turned her eyes away.
She ate up all the steamed buns.
That was exactly what Morrison had wanted.
Even though she was pregnant, she could eat whatever she wanted without feeling nauseous.
And she ate a lot.
"You were out all night. You should rest at home." Laura stood up and said, "You haven't eaten breakfast yet, have you? There's a lot of food left, and I can't finish it all. You should have the rest before it gets cold."
"Okay."
Morrison came over and took a seat.
As Laura finished packing up, ready to head to work, she made her way to the door. Before leaving, she paused and glanced back at Morrison.
"Don't worry about the cleanup. I'll handle it once I'm back. You're not used to this sort of thing.”
"On the contrary, I can manage just fine around the house. It's the cooking that's beyond me." With an encouraging smile, Morrison added, “Head off to work now, and try not to be late.”
Laura hesitated, her words teetering on the edge of her lips.
