Chapter: 1980
The wind whipped against her face as she galloped across the vast green meadow, clearing away any remnants of a bad mood.
"Go!" she urged, riding wildly and freely.
Initially, Isaac feared she might fall. Yet, she mastered riding so swiftly that it took him by surprise.
Milton caught up to Isaac, curiosity in his voice. “Did your wife used to ride horses before?" It was quite rare for a woman to ride so steadily and quickly on her first time.
Isaac replied, “It's her first time riding."
Milton was taken aback and exclaimed, “Wow, she really is talented.”
“Her real talent lies in healing and saving lives," Isaac added, watching Camila with pride.
In this era dominated by wealth, a white-robed angel of mercy is always worthy of respect.
Milton was even more taken aback. He probably hadn't anticipated Isaac marrying a female doctor, given that he found the profession quite dull and uninteresting. In his opinion, doctors tended to be reserved.
Logically, given Isaac's status, he could have chosen any woman—wealthy men often preferred celebrities or models. However, his opinion of female doctors was now shifting. It turns out that a female doctor can be as carefree and uninhibited as anyone else!
When Laura came home from work, she found that Morrison had made dinner. His culinary skills were limited, so the meal was less than stellar.
"Should we go out to eat?" he suggested.
Laura looked over the dishes. "Let's just eat here. It would be a waste to throw it away. These dishes may not be so delicious, but this is the first time you cooked for me. I think it's worth our try. Let's taste them and see what can be improved next time when cooking."
Morrison scratched his head. "The heat was too high."
Laura looked at him. He wasn't much of a cook, but he was making an effort for her, and that was what truly mattered. The taste was secondary.
"Have a piece of meat," she said, offering him some ribs. "I'll cook next time."
Morrison waved his hand dismissively. "No, I need to learn. I don't have a mother anymore, and neither do you. When you're on maternity leave, someone has to take care of you, so while you're still early in your pregnancy, I still have time to learn!" He paused, then added, “In a few months, when your pregnancy is further along, you should quit your job."
Laura paused while picking up vegetables and asked with a smile, “You'll support me?"
Morrison nodded. "Of course, I'm your man."
The atmosphere suddenly grew tense. The air seemed to quiet down. His statement, though simple, carried weight. It wasn't just because they were husband and wife. It was more poignant because their marriage had not yet been consummated. His words inadvertently highlighted the unspoken tension between them.
