Chapter: 1990
He had a point, she had to admit.

But she still believed in giving her all to save lives.

She shook off the thoughts and left the hospital.

Eagle awaited her outside.

He popped the car door open as she approached.

“Let's go to Evergreen Bookstore," she instructed.

Books were her solace when she was down.

They arrived and Camila disappeared inside.

Half an hour later, she emerged with a handful of books, hopped back in the car, and directed Eagle home.

At home, a court summons awaited her!

"Look at this! What's this?" Rowena handed Camila what she had received earlier that day.

Camila took it, opened it, and said calmly, “It's nothing. Just a package."

In reality, it was a court summons.

She acted calm because she didn't want Rowena to worry.

Taking the package, she went upstairs, paused halfway, turned, and looked at her mother. "Mom."

"What?" Rowena responded.

“Nothing much. Just wanted to say thanks. How could I manage without you looking after the two kids?"

Rowena rolled her eyes. "It's nothing."

"Mom, I'm thinking of quitting my job once I'm done with my current project," Camila said, biting her lip.

Rowena wanted her to keep that job but knew she shouldn't meddle too much.
