"Yes."
Joe nodded. “I wish we could do it more often.”
Squeezing his hand, Camila promised, “We will."
Joe beamed, even jumping a bit.
Seeing his joy, Camila couldn't help but smile.
Maybe tending to her husband and son at home wasn't so bad after all.
Wouldn't those two kids be thrilled?
Today, it was her job to get them scrubbed up and to bed.
By the time she finished, it was way past nine.
Joe, in his PJs, tinkered with the windmill they had bought at the amusement park.
He huffed at it to make it spin.
"Time for bed, buddy," she reminded him. "It's almost ten. You'll have plenty of playtime tomorrow."
Reluctantly, Joe crawled under the covers, his windmill in hand.
Camila tucked him in and planted a kiss on his forehead. “Goodnight, champ."
With a content grin, Joe drifted off.
Once he was out, Camila headed upstairs.
A quick shower later, it was past ten.
Isaac still hadn't shown up.
Sleep eluded her.
She tried reading but couldn't focus.
