He understood the gravity of his mistake.
No amount of effort to make it up for it could absolve him completely.
In fact, Morrison's suggestion was the best one they could think of.
“You can go home. I'll handle everything from here," Morrison assured her as he held her.
Laura knew staying here could cause problems for Morrison.
Laura trusted him.
Yet...
She glanced back at Aldrin.
Aldrin smiled reassuringly and said, "Go home."
Laura exited the interrogation room.
Morrison walked her out of the police station.
"I know you can't rest easy now. You probably didn't sleep well last night. Go home and rest. I'll come by later with some food,"
Morrison said.
Laura asked, "What would you like to eat? I can cook something for you."
"No, you're pregnant. It's not convenient for you. Just get some rest, as I suggested. I'll take care of Aldrin. I'll do my best to reduce his sentence. That's all we can do now."
Laura nodded in agreement.
Morrison returned to the police station.
He secured all of Aldrin's confessions.
The approval for Aldrin to act as an informant also came through from higher authorities.
The only thing left was his release.
