Chapter: 2256
"I looked bad because you really gave us a scare, you know?"
Camila's voice was soft, tinged with concern. She gently held Laura's hand, her worry evident. "You were in labor, and Morrison's condition was touch and go. I was so worried about both of you. How could I not be exhausted?"
"Thank you," Laura murmured sincerely.
Camila offered a gentle smile. "You're welcome."
"I need to see Morrison," Laura said firmly.
“How will you manage?" Camila asked softly. "With the cesarean, you can't just hop out of bed. The incision will keep you here today. I've checked on Morrison. He's still in the ward, fast asleep."
Laura nodded, a sense of relief flooding over her. “I'm glad to hear he's okay."
Camila gazed at Laura, a hint of envy in her eyes. “Do you know? I envy you so much."
Laura couldn't help but roll her eyes in disbelief.
“Why envy me?" Laura countered. “Your husband is wealthy and handsome, and you have two sons. You don't face the same worries I do. Your envy feels more like mockery."
"Isaac dearly wants a daughter," Camila murmured, averting her eyes to conceal her emotions.
Laura paused, her voice tinged with concern. "Isn't he a little greedy? He already has two children.”
“He never mentioned it; it's me feeling guilty for not giving him a daughter," Camila confided in a soft tone.
“You're overthinking this. If he hasn't complained, why stress yourself about it?" Laura reasoned.
"Well, you're right. Maybe I'm the greedy one?" Camila said, offering a strained smile.
"You truly are. Camila, discontent is endless." Laura sighed. "If your children were girls, you'd probably want a son. It's best not to desire too much." Gazing at the ceiling, Laura mentioned, "Mila, all I want is to enjoy a peaceful life here with Morrison."
“And you will," Camila reassured her. “Morrison's surgery went well."
Laura managed a weak smile, not uttering a word.
Apologies spilled from Camila unexpectedly.
She was privy to the entire ordeal through Colin.
