Chapter: 2285
Still eating, her husband remained silent.
After finishing his meal, he finally looked up and questioned, "Release him?"
The woman nodded, explaining, "Yes, release him. He's from Azmar, so he might not be..."
"But it's so isolated here. Isn't it suspicious for him to appear?" the man interrupted, fixing his gaze on his wife. “Our vineyard is just a facade. There are secrets behind it. What if he discovers them? Remember how we ended up here."
The woman remained silent, refraining from bringing up the idea of releasing the man again.
"But he keeps asking me. I don't know how to respond," she confessed.
After pondering for a moment, the man offered a solution. “Just pretend you don't understand," he suggested.
It was exactly a tactic the woman had employed just now.
"But if we can't release him, do we have to keep him here indefinitely? What if our superiors come and find him?" the woman questioned anxiously.
"Then we'll confine him to the cellar. We can't risk killing him, the man decided, setting down his bowl and resuming his work."
With that, the woman left and began clearing the dishes.
Isaac remained seated on the bed, too wary to touch the food provided.
When the woman returned and noticed the untouched food, she encouraged him, "You should eat. If we intended harm, you'd already be gone.”
Isaac's heart raced with alarm.
Who were these people?
"It's not poisoned. Don't starve yourself," the woman added before exiting the room.
Hearing the fading footsteps, Isaac seized the opportunity and cautiously made his way outside.
He located a door and crossed the threshold.
Besides the woman, he only heard a man's voice.
It appeared there was no one else present.
