Chapter: 2287
A flicker of doubt crossed the woman's face. “Are you sure?"
Isaac reaffirmed, "Nope, nothing at all.”
The woman seemed to soften. "That's fine. You don't seem like a bad person," she said, offering him a hand to help him to his feet. "Are you from Azmar?"
Isaac confirmed with a nod. "That's right."
The woman helped him back to his room, her voice gentle. "Get some rest. Don't forget you're injured."
Later that night, whispers drifted from the room next door. The woman and her husband spoke in hushed tones.
“He claims he saw nothing," the woman whispered.
“Would he admit it even if he did?" her husband scoffed.
The woman continued, her brow furrowed, “He is from Azmar, and I don't think he's..."
"Even if he's from Azmar, they could've sent him here to lull us into a false sense of security," her husband interrupted, his tone laced with suspicion. He was a man of sharp vigilance.
The woman let out a frustrated sigh. "If I knew it'd be this much trouble, I wouldn't have bothered saving him."
“Same here," her husband admitted. "If he hadn't been blind, I wouldn't have risked it either."
This whole "grapes" business was a smokescreen.
The truth was, they harbored illegal animals.
These creatures possessed rare and valuable extracts.
They weren't inherently bad people.
They were trapped.
Their son was indebted to certain individuals.
Thus, they were compelled to come to this place.
If they disobeyed their orders, their son would face dire consequences.
