Chapter: 2293
Forrest clasped her arm firmly “Don't dodge my question. Look into my eyes. Is Laura's kid mine?"

He had been to Starhaven. He replayed that night meticulously. He did recall being with Laura.

Camila feigned composure. “What's on your mind? How could Laura's child be yours?"

"I've been to Starhaven, and the timing adds up. You wouldn't have asked if I like kids without reason. You must have had a purpose. I believe you were testing me, right?" His tone was tense yet resolute Camila brushed it off. “I just asked casually. You're overthinking..

"I'll find out soon enough once I inquire—"

"No, you can't!" Camila interjected urgently.

“Why not? If her child isn't mine, Laura wouldn't have been afraid of my asking."

“She's moved on. Won't you disrupt her peace if you bring it up?"

It's good that Morrison is reasonable. But what if she were with a narrow-minded man?" Without awaiting Forrest's response, Camila pressed on, “Do you know why I rushed to Starhaven?"

“Because Laura was having a baby," Forrest replied.

“Sort of, but not entirely. If it were just about the birth, I might not have hurried there, especially with Isaac's disappearance. I rushed back because something happened to Morrison. He got shot, the bullet narrowly missing his heart. He was on death's door. Laura went into premature labor out of worry. By the time I reached the hospital, she'd already given birth. But I heard she didn't want to have the baby then. She said if Morrison died, she wouldn't want to live either. Forrest, I don't know if Laura loves Morrison, but he's a good man. Laura's life is serene. I don't want you to disrupt that.”

Forrest lapsed into silence.

Observing him, Camila pressed on, “Sometimes, it's better to remain unaware and allow her to have a better Life than to seek the truth.”

Knowing wouldn't alter anything. Perhaps it was best to stay ignorant.

Did her words hint indirectly that Laura's child was indeed his?

Forrest pondered silently, lips pursed. Suddenly, he slouched.

Camila gently patted his shoulder. "There are various forms of love, and sometimes, letting someone go is an act of love."

Meeting his gaze with her own, Forrest posed a question, "If Isaac falls for someone else, would you be willing to set him free?"

After a brief pause, Camila responded, "If his love fades, I must leave."

Forrest posed another question. “At that moment, can you suppress your sorrow?"
