Chapter: 2295
As the couple prepared to leave, Isaac intervened.
“May I speak with you?" he asked.
The woman's husband replied coldly, "There's no need. Just stay here We don't plan to harm you."
Isaac spent the previous night deep in thought but couldn't solve the puzzle.
Why were they keeping him here?
"Is there a reason you can't speak of? Surely you wouldn't detain a stranger without cause," he questioned.
The couple remained silent.
The husband's eyes immediately flashed with suspicion and a hint of menace.
“What do you need to know?" In an icy tone, the husband declared, “I have the power to save you or to end your life unnoticed. You've seen how isolated it is here. With just the two of us, if I were to kill you, bury you in a deep pit, no one would ever know.”
Isaac remained calm, asserting, “If you were truly hostile and intended to kill me, it would have happened by now. Your actions thus far suggest otherwise."
The woman tugged at her husband's arm, silently urging him to hold his tongue.
Yet, the husband's gaze remained fixed on Isaac.
This was their first and only exchange.
He quickly deduced that Isaac was no ordinary man.
Although unable to see the husband's face clearly, Isaac felt confident the man harbored no ill will.
"I'm convinced neither of you means harm," Isaac continued too, mean no harm. I ended up here because my plane went down."
Isaac had noticed the absence of others around them.
The silence was telling- it seemed they were alone. The setting was unusual, too quiet for a village.
"Are there reasons for such secrecy?" he inquired. Isaac speculated aloud, “There must be secrets about this place that can't be known to others, right? You fear that I might reveal its location to others, don't you?"
“What did you see?" The woman inquired with her curiosity piqued.
