Chapter: 2386
Out of nowhere, the phone on the table buzzed to life.
"Could that be Isa...?" Forrest began to ask, glancing towards the phone.
But he cut himself off mid-sentence.
The caller wasn't Isaac.
It was Laura, causing his expression to turn grim instantly.
Without hesitation, Camila picked up the phone and stepped outside to talk.
“Laura."
“Mila, are you able to make time for the trial? It looks like Aldrin might be facing court soon."
Deep down, Camila was reluctant to get involved in the trial.
After all, she had two kids to look after.
Sensing her hesitation, Laura quickly reassured her, “If you can't make it, don't worry. Morrison and I will be there, and I'll fill you in on the outcome. You can visit him later."
"Okay," Camila responded softly.
"Mila, you seemed distracted last time you were here. What's going on?"
"It's nothing. I've just been a bit out of sorts lately from lack of rest. Don't worry too much. I'm fine."
“Alright, I'll let you go then," Laura concluded.
After hanging up, Camila turned back, only to see Forrest staring intently at her.
Camila's discomfort intensified beneath his penetrating stare, prompting a delicate cough to dissipate the tension.
She turned over and walked past him. "What's the reason for your intense scrutiny?"
“What was her reason for calling?" Forrest inquired.
His gaze remained sharp, scouring her face for any signs or clues.
