However, Camila's heart sank when she saw him with two deep gashes on his face, his arms encased in plaster, and a noticeable limp in his step.

Her eyes welled up with tears instantly.

She could only imagine the ordeal Alick had endured.

Annis stood by his side, tears streaming down her cheeks, her eyes puffy and red.

After ensuring he had a room and asking Annis to assist him, Camila found herself at a loss for words.

“As long as you're back," she managed to say.

Beyond that, she was speechless!

She was never adept at offering comfort.

Despite his injuries, Alick remained positive. "The doctor says I'll recover in a few months. Don't worry."

Perhaps it would have been better if he hadn't spoken at all. His words immediately brought tears to Annis' eyes again.

Gently patting Annis' back, Camila urged, “Let's go inside."

"You're crying again. People might think I've been mean to you,"

Alick joked.

Annis responded only with sobs.

"Alas."

No matter what he said, Annis wouldn't be consoled.

He understood her concern for him.

Yet, her constant crying added to his stress.
