Annis pondered the query, unsure of what he meant.

Did he want her to treat him better, like talking to him in a tenderer way?

“I think I already show enough respect," Annis said.

Forrest gestured dismissively, “I've elucidated quite clearly; you should be kinder to me."

“Do you expect me to speak with you in a soft tone? Is it necessary?"

Annis found it boring to talk with him.

She consistently felt as though he sought to exploit her!

“Yes, of course. You speak so sweetly when talking with Isaac. Maybe you can do the same..."

“But you're different people." Annis refused to yield an inch.

Forrest stood there, rendered speechless.

He feigned heartbreak, lamenting, "You possess a remarkable ability to wound, despite your youth."

Having been deeply hurt romantically, he was now subjected to mockery by a young girl.

His existence was filled with bitterness!

The sorrow reflected in Forrest's eyes appeared authentic, not merely a facade.

Seated, Annis offered, "What troubles you? Share it with me. Allow me to analyze it for you."

Forrest was rendered speechless.

“Never mind. It's beyond your comprehension." Forrest stated, rising to depart.

He couldn't possibly confide in a young girl that his heartache stemmed from his daughter addressing another man as “dad”.

He was certain Annis would mock him if he revealed this.
