Chapter: 974
“Take me to her," Isaac demanded, standing up and striding out of the room.
As they made their way to the emergency room, Isaac asked in a hushed tone, "Is she okay? How bad are her injuries?"
Alick looked down.
He didn't know how to answer.
Camila was in critical condition, and he didn't know if she would make it.
"Tell me!" Isaac's voice rose, his hands clenched into fists.
"She was badly hurt," he replied reluctantly. "When they pulled her ashore, she was covered in blood. Her face was severely burned and mutilated."
Isaac stopped in his tracks, his heart sinking. "What did you say?" Alick repeated himself, "She is seriously injured."
Isaac's hands trembled as he balled his fists, his knuckles turning white, and the veins in his hands bulging with intensity.
Alick lowered his head and continued, “The doctors are doing everything they can to save her, but we don't know if she'll make it."
“Which operating room is she in?" Isaac asked. Although Isaac made an effort to calm down, his voice shook uncontrollably.
“Room number one. We've got the best doctors on the case,” Alick replied.
Isaac strode towards the operating room, his mind racing with fear and uncertainty. When he reached the door, he saw that the light was stilt on, indicating that the surgery was still in progress
Time seemed to crawl by. Each moment felt Like an eternity. Isaac felt the urge to barge into the operating room, but Alick cautioned him against it.
“You'll only disturb the doctors. You don't want to risk her life, do you?"
He could have Lost control and stormed in if Alick hadn't been there. Isaac felt suffocated like he couldn't catch his breath. He tried to calm himself by taking deep breaths, but it didn't seem to help.
He remembered the anguish he saw in Camila's eyes. She had obviously misunderstood what he had said.
In a moment of despair, she jumped into the river with the intent to end her life.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the light went off, and the door slid open.
Isaac rushed forward, but the lump in his throat made it difficult to speak.
He finally managed to choke out a question. "Is she okay?"
The doctor conveyed his sympathy and remorse saying, “Although we did our best, the injuries she had sustained were too severe."
Alick's heart skipped a beat as he unconsciously turned to Look at Isaac, who was gritting his teeth and obviously struggling to hold back tears.
"Mr. Johnston..." Alick said with his voice full of caution.
"Is this some kind of joke?" Issac growled. His voice was low and monotonous that it seemed to be emanating from his chest.
