Chapter: 3891
Jessie, despite her beauty, was no spring chicken, making Lettie more pragmatic than ever.
In her eyes, Axell was the best match for Jessie.
Jessie herself found Axell appealing. He was cultured and showed women respect. Over coffee, when Axell suggested a stroll, Jessie nodded but mentioned, "I need to sort something out in an hour."
A sheepish smile crossed her lips.
Her smile brought out a youthful charm that Axell found irresistible, making him steal a few more glances at her.
That was when Albert walked in, spotting Jessie and Axell together.
He looked taken aback but went on to order a coffee before turning to Jessie with a casual air. "Is this guy your new boyfriend?"
Jessie was left stunned.
It never crossed her mind that she would meet Albert while she was out on a blind date with someone else.
She felt quite embarrassed.
But Albert calmly greeted her. By now, their story was known to everyone in Duefron. If he got suspicious, Axell wouldn't have to dig far before finding out. Clearly, Albert had intentionally said what he had just said, fully knowing what would happen.
As expected, when he heard Albert, Axell looked at him and then at Jessie.
Even though he had only been around for two years after finishing his studies abroad, he was familiar with Albert, the CEO of Waston Group, who had lost his wife just a few days ago. But he never expected to meet him here of all places.
Albert didn't really look sad at all.
It seemed he and his wife never got along well with each other in the first place.
"Do you know Mr. Waston?" Axell asked Jessie.
Jessie didn't know how to answer this question. How could she tell her date that Albert was her ex... and that they were together for three years without actually acknowledging the relationship publicly?
She just could not bring herself to say the words.
After a while, she was able to come up with an excuse. "He's the boss of one of my good friends," she said and introduced them to each other. "“Axell, meet Albert Waston. Mr. Watson, meet Axell."
"Oh," Axell gasped as if light had just dawned on him. Immediately, he stretched out his hand and said warmly, "Mr. Waston, my name is Axell Calderon."
