Chapter: 3908
After a prolonged moment of tension, Jessie reversed the car slowly and addressed Jeslyn, “If you come over here, I'll teach you."
Jeslyn pursed her lips, adopting a patronizing expression.
“Step out of the car and carry me. My feet are numb."
Jessie sneered. "Why should I? Standing for a while has already made your feet numb? If you don't come now, I'll leave."
Without hesitation, Jeslyn hurried over as soon as Jessie finished speaking.
Jeslyn opened the car door, slipped into Jessie's embrace, and whispered, "Elsie told me you're the mom my dad chose for me. I've been happy since then, but you don't seem to like me."
Confusion clouded Jessie's mind. "When did I ever say I'd be your mom? Your mother's name's Daisy."
“She is dead. I've never seen her much anyway. Plus, our names are alike. Shouldn't you be my mother? Besides, my dad likes you too. Uncle Marcus said he's been single for a while," Jeslyn uttered this softly.
Jessie was rendered speechless. She pondered over Albert's method of teaching the child.
At that moment, Elsie approached as well. Feeling a tad embarrassed, she rubbed her hands together and admitted, “I was just speculating.
Please don't mind me."
Jessie bowed her head and stressed to Jeslyn, "My purpose here is to teach you a foreign language, not to be your mother."
Jeslyn slouched against Jessie's shoulder and remarked casually, "I know. You have a boyfriend."
Jessie's heart skipped a beat when she heard this.
She couldn't fathom the possibility that she had been manipulated by a three-year-old feigning innocence. Unable to face the embarrassment, she simply asked Elsie, "Where is her classroom?"
Elsie awkwardly interjected, "Miss Jeslyn hasn't had her meal yet.”
Jessie wouldn't spoil Jeslyn.
Jessie stated bluntly, "Mealtime is part of the arrangement. I'm here to teach, not to feed her."
Jeslyn felt slightly hurt. "Dad can feed me, or I can eat on my own," she offered.
Jessie thought to herself that she must be out of her mind to have agreed to stay.
