Chapter: 3939
When Jessie entered the kitchen, Axell's mother, Monica, greeted her warmly and politely. "Oh honey, you don't have to help me in here.

Get a glass of water for her, Axell. It's not worth it to soil your clothes during household chores, especially considering how expensive they appear-too expensive for day-to-day life actually," Monica advised.

Jessie sensed an underlying message from Monica but managed to maintain her composure.

Axell found himself in a dilemma as well.

Leading Jessie away, Axell whispered, “That's just the older generation's perspective about money. Things will gradually change."

Perhaps in an effort to put Jessie at ease, Axell behaved with exceptional politeness and consideration.

Jessie also thought that she couldn't deny Axell easily because of his parents' habits. Besides, she wasn't getting any younger. If she really wanted to get married, she had to make sacrifices too.

Since Axell's parents resided in the north, and she wasn't fond of the idea of living with them, Jessie contemplated purchasing a smaller house nearby. This arrangement would allow her to care for them without sharing the same roof.

Jessie felt a sense of relief upon considering this option.

Monica was a teacher and was very enthusiastic. She picked up food for Jessie and said, "Jessie, I bet you rarely eat this in Duefron.

Have a taste."

The spiciness of the food brought tears to Jessie's eyes.

"You have to get used to spicy food. You know why?" Monica said.

"A woman should consume more spicy food to easily conceive boys.

Despite my initial discomfort, I grew accustomed to it and gave birth to Axell effortlessly. Unlike my sisters-in-law, who had several daughters before a son, I didn't endure much hardship."

Jessie was taken aback by Monica's seemingly thoughtful words.

Jessie pretended calm and asked Axell casually, "You have to produce boys on your side of the family?"

Pinching her nose lightly, Axell replied, "Then let's aim for a son first and save you the trouble."

Jessie felt uncomfortable.

Given their unofficial engagement, Jessie felt uneasy discussing this topic with Axell or his parents.
