Chapter: 3940
They all wanted a son.
Jessie couldn't enjoy the food. Despite her discomfort with the spicy meal, Axell remained oblivious to her distress.
Still, Jessie persevered through it, and after, wrapped things up and was about to leave.
Doing dishes in the kitchen, Monica warmly invited Jessie to visit again.
Jessie responded with a smile. She broached a sensitive topic to Axell during their drive back. "Axell, what if I can't conceive a boy?"
After Jessie had spoken her mind, Axell found himself lost in a daze.
But he quickly chimed in with a faint grin, “Hey, are you doubting my abilities?"
Jessie mumbled, "It's not that, Axell. But, let's face it, nobody can guarantee we'll have a boy... What if it turns out to be a girl?
Does that mean we keep trying till we get a son?"
She was crossing the thirty mark.
So Jessie wasn't keen on taking chances. If Axell and his folks were fixated on having a boy and favored boys over girls, she wasn't sure she could handle it. To her, marriage meant mutual respect. Plus, she didn't want to be used just to produce male heirs to carry on her husband's family name.
Seeing Jessie a tad upset, Axell hurriedly added, “Boy or girl, it's our call. And if it's a girl, I'll be just as thrilled. If you don't want another kid, it's fine. I'll talk to my parents later."
Jessie felt somewhat reassured hearing Axell's words.
Leaning closer, Axell whispered, “Did I pass the test?"
Jessie nodded casually. “Kind of!"
When people in love were alone, their hearts craved kisses and hugs.
So, Axell wrapped his arm around Jessie and murmured, “Can I steal a kiss now?"
Today's events had put Jessie in a sour mood.
So she wasn't feeling too chipper.
As Axell leaned in for a kiss, Jessie turned her head away.
