Chapter: 3941
Disappointed, he gripped the wheel, saying, “Still mad? I've said it before, we call the shots. Forget my folks' views. And hey, more kids mean less quality of life. You think I'm dumb enough for that?"
Jessie couldn't resist asking, “What if we strike it rich one day?
Will you push for more kids?"
Axell chuckled. "Maybe when I'm president of the hospital." He planted a gentle kiss on her lips, not taking it seriously.
Jessie smirked, "Dream on!"
Just as Axell was about to continue, his phone blared. It was the hospital. His expression shifted as he picked up. Turning to Jessie, he apologized, “There's an emergency at work. I have to go."
He awkwardly added, "I'll drop you home first."
But Jessie mused, "The patient's priority. Go ahead, I'll manage!"
Axell gently booped her nose, whispering, "Catch you later!"
Jessie nodded, stepping out. Axell lingered a moment, and then drove off.
Rushing to the hospital, Axell hastily donned his white lab coat.
Entering the office, Axell was greeted with colleagues brandishing a slice of birthday cake, belting out, “Happy Birthday to you!"
Surprised, Axell spotted his friend Austin Hanson at the front.
He grinned, giving Austin a playful shove, “Come on, buddy! Today isn't my birthday. What's the gag, huh? I'm introducing my girl to my folks today. If you mess with my plans, you're in for it later."
Austin chuckled in response.
Then, he turned, saying, “Yeah, it's not your birthday. It's Dr.
Barnes'. I heard she's throwing a bash for the whole hospital. So, Axell, there's no need for reminders, right?"
Giving Axell a nudge, Austin teased, "Not everyone's as lucky as you, man."
As Austin spoke, the birthday girl Debra Barnes approached them.
With a soft smile, she whispered, "Are you not glad to see me, Axell?"
