Chapter: 3950
Jessie grabbed the chips from Jeslyn's grasp. “What's so great about junk food? I'll make something for you."
Deep down, Jeslyn was delighted.
But she maintained a stoic expression as she remarked, “You're considerate. Are you prepared to marry that doctor? Elsie told me about it."
Then, Jeslyn began to mimic Elsie's voice, saying, “I can't believe it! I couldn't see that an intellectual isn't a good person in the end.
He's got eyes bigger than his stomach. He's really greedy and awful.
I guess Miss Green is in for a rough time."
Jeslyn's eyes sparkled. “What does it mean to have eyes bigger than his stomach?"
Jessie's heart skipped a beat.
Why would Elsie say such things?
Of course, Jessie refrained from questioning Jeslyn further. Though a bit skeptical, she pushed the thoughts aside for the time being.
She headed to the kitchen, opening the refrigerator and retrieving a bag of frozen wontons.
After cooking them, she garnished them with chopped coriander.
Jessie believed it was delicious, but Jeslyn pouted and declared, "I don't like coriander."
Jessie had to help Jeslyn remove the coriander.
Jeslyn began to eat, though she disliked that the wontons weren't homemade. As Jessie moved to take the bowl, Jeslyn hesitated. "It's not terrible."
Jessie felt Jeslyn had been overly particular about everything.
Later, Jeslyn even pushed her luck, requesting Jessie's help to shower and change into pajamas. Eventually, Jeslyn drifted into a peaceful sleep on the bed.
It suddenly rained hours later.
The gentle drizzle dampened the eaves of the window, with water trickling down the glass.
The delicate girl lying on the bed appeared even more beautiful as she let her guard down, her breath carrying a sweet fragrance.
