Chapter: 3977
She made to leave, but before she could, Albert swiftly exited the car, gently clasped her arm, and guided her back inside. Anticipating her protest, he spoke in a hushed, gravelly tone. "You wouldn't want the neighbors witnessing a public altercation with a man, would you?"
Leaning back against the seat, Jessie watched as Albert secured her seatbelt.
After a moment of silent contemplation, she spoke softly, "Albert, the truth is, we can't even be friends."
She refused to foster any false hope of a potential reconciliation between them.
Releasing her seat belt, she got out of the car. As the door shut, she caught his strained whisper, "Jessie, just one more chance for me, please."
Her lips trembled as she bowed her head.
Despite the turmoil in her heart, she remained steadfast in her decision to part ways with him.
After walking a short distance, she spotted Axell standing across from her. He appeared just as worn out as Albert did. Axell held a cup of coffee and a sandwich in his hands.
Axell felt remorseful for his past neglect and had come early in the morning to try to win Jessie back.
He hadn't expected to stumble upon this scene.
Axell was a man of great pride, having excelled above others since childhood, becoming the pride of the Calderon family. He felt deeply betrayed by Jessie at the moment.
It became apparent that she hadn't forgiven him simply because she sought reconciliation with Albert.
"I just had dinner with Debra," he said through clenched teeth. "Is there really nothing going on between you and Mr. Waston? You visited his child in the hospital. That child is actually yours, isn't it?
No wonder you disappeared for three years. Did you go abroad to give birth to that child during that time?
I never imagined you could be such a despicable person."
Axell's words were sharp and hurtful, lacking any semblance of tact.
Jessie felt a pang in her chest.
It wasn't that she minded Axell's misconceptions about her relationship with Albert, but the mention of those three years pierced her heart. Only she knew the turmoil she had endured during that time. It was easy not to love someone, but it was incredibly challenging to move on from them.
As Jessie prepared to address Axell, Albert abruptly got out of the car, the door inadvertently striking Axell's shoulder and causing him to stagger. Then he delivered a forceful punch to Axell, growling, "Mind your words!"
With a powerful blow, Axell was sent crashing into the luxurious Rolls-Royce, yet Albert showed no concern. Advancing, Albert seized Axell's collar, his expression twisted in contempt. "You're not worthy of her, not at all."
