Chapter: 3982
She couldn't move.
Jessie felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment. She clenched her teeth and spat angrily, “Let go of me! You jerk, Albert!"
Albert straightened up.
He brushed his fingers against her delicate cheek and warned in a husky tone, "Move again, and I'll be even less accommodating. "
Jessie dared not speak or budge.
She lay motionless across his lap, feeling his warmth. Suddenly, an overwhelming urge to cry swept over her, and she yielded to it, tears streaming down her face.
Despite despising the man holding her, she couldn't suppress her tears.
Albert's jacket darkened with the dampness of her tears.
He didn't mind, as it was Jessie who was crying. It had been quite some time since she had shed tears in his embrace.
Jessie wept in silence, uttering no words.
She hesitated to bring up the grievances and resentments she had endured with Albert. She was aware she had lost control, yet as tears began to flow, she realized she had been suppressing her emotions for far too long and urgently needed to release them.
Although the car had reached their destination, with the driver unaware of the events unfolding in the back seat and Albert remaining silent, the vehicle continued to loop around the company premises.
Despite having a crucial meeting, Albert hesitated to leave Jessie alone, considering her distressed state.
After contemplating for a moment, he instructed through the intercom, "Head to the villa at Emerald Ridge."
Upon receiving the directive, the driver changed the route and steered towards the specified destination.
Albert lowered his head, tenderly caressing the nape of Jessie's neck as if comforting a child or a fragile creature. He never stopped Jessie's tears; he understood her too intimately for that.
Even as the vehicle rolled into the villa, Jessie appeared somewhat dazed.
When she finally regained her composure, the vehicle had halted, and the driver discreetly opened the door for them.
Albert swiftly dialed Emma, issuing concise instructions before redirecting his focus to Jessie. She appeared adrift, tears shimmering at the edges of her eyes, projecting an air of utter desolation.
Extending slender fingers, he gently stroked her cheek and murmured, “Assist me with the medication, and then take a moment to calm yourself here. You're in no condition to venture out."
