Chapter: 4001
“Forget? Impossible! It plays over in my head daily.”
Jessie deemed Albert a complete rogue!
She then sneered. “Mr. Waston, my apologies for being so tempting."
They exchanged playful jabs. They weren't as close as they used to be, but they weren't exactly distant either. Jessie guessed Albert might believe their encounter had altered their relationship.
Yet, she resolved to leave once he was released from the hospital.
Just then, the door swung open to unveil a known face peering inside.
It was Shawn with Yvonne by his side.
Shawn was faring well in business, owning assets in Duefron, yet his wealth way lagged behind Albert's.
Holding gifts in one hand, he grinned. "Mr. Waston, hearing about your injury, I thought I'd drop in to see how you're doing."
After placing his gifts down, he gently nudged Yvonne, suggesting, "Say hello to Mr. Waston; he's the one assisting with getting you into that nice school."
Yvonne, now older, wasn't shy around new people.
Out of respect for Melissa, Albert treated Shawn and his family kindly, although, the disruption to his private time with Jessie irked him somewhat.
Nonetheless, he smiled and responded, "It's nothing serious."
Shawn countered, "Melissa told my mom about your serious injury. My mom was so worried she cried rivers. With her age, she tends to worry a lot about others. She hasn't stopped praying for your well-being."
Albert found it hard to crack a smile anymore.
Shawn perched on the bed's edge, seemingly trying to get closer to Albert. After a moment, Jessie intervened, “Shawn, he just got a dozen stitches hours ago."
Shawn looked embarrassed. “I wasn't aware."
He went on. “Mr. Waston, please take care of yourself and don't overdo it... While men might like to roam, with your wealth, you should really watch your health."
His tone was teasing, and Yvonne smiled at his remark.
Albert found him a bit annoying, but luckily Shawn didn't stay long.
