Chapter: 4055
Blood stained the cracks, but he didn't seem to feel any pain.
Thirty minutes later, a sleek black limo rolled into the cemetery, barely making a sound.
As the car halted, the driver moved to grab an umbrella for Leonel.
But he waved him off, murmuring, "Just wait here."
The driver hesitated, eyeing the sky, but decided against speaking up.
Meanwhile, Leonel strode toward the cemetery alone.
The path was slick from the rain, dampening the grass. Soon, Leonel's clothes and hands were soaked, but he paid it no mind, his expensive shoes trudging forward.
Before long, he spotted Calvin's tombstone and a figure standing beside it.
Alexis wore black and the bruises still marked her skin.
Holding an umbrella, she gazed at the photo on the tombstone.
The picture showed a youthful Calvin of about twenty, full of life.
Years hadn't dulled Alexis' memory of the day she had met Calvin, his eyes filled with despair after his parents' tragic end following their suicide.
Then, she reached out and had since become Calvin's guarding angel!
While Leonel was absent, she and Calvin formed a tight bond, like family. Until one day, when Leonel reappeared.
But now, Calvin rested peacefully in the cemetery.
Alexis removed a white flower from her blouse, placing it before the tombstone. She tenderly touched the photo of Calvin, his youthful face staring back at her. In a hoarse voice, she murmured, “It's been too long since I last visited."
Silence followed her words, save for the faint breaths behind her.
Though she knew it was Leonel, she refused to turn. Instead, she stood, mourning Calvin's loss.
And then, under the rain, they faced each other.
One was sheltered by an umbrella, the other was drenched.
