Chapter: 4056
A memory struck Leonel: a rainy day from their youth. Alexis had no umbrella then, so he'd draped his school uniform over her, holding her close as they walked.
Passersby had stared.
Alexis had been embarrassed, angry, and worried for him. She tossed his jacket back to him.
But now, she wouldn't share the umbrella.
Gazing at Leonel, Alexis spoke coldly. "Let's end this, Leonel."
His mouth moved but no words came. ALL he heard was the rain.
He wanted to say something, but found himself speechless.
As Alexis walked past, raindrops splattered from the umbrella onto Leonel's face, his heart skipping a beat.
In a sudden burst of clarity, Leonel seized her hand.
“No way, Alexis! I'm not divorcing you!"
Alexis halted, eyeing the bruises on her wrist, a painful reminder of last night's ordeal with Leonel.
It seemed he'd conveniently forgotten.
She loathed him and that woman Anika.
Following her gaze, Leonel noticed the bruises too. Anxious, he stammered, "I promise it won't happen again! I was totally wasted last night."
Alexis looked away, mustering a faint smile.
So, being drunk was his free pass to cheat and even assault her? If that were the case, anyone could justify their mistakes.
She was done with him and their marriage. After a pause, she said calmly, “It's best we part ways nicely. I'll send the divorce papers to your office. We can keep it low-key to avoid affecting the company's stocks. Once we divide our assets, we go our separate ways. The public doesn't have to know."
With that, Alexis made her stance clear, shaking off Leonel's hand.
He tried to grab her again but failed.
Watching her walk away, Leonel could only stare, his attempts to stop her futile.
